What is Muay Thai?
Muay Thai is known as "King of the Ring" in kickboxing circles. Muay Thai features punches, kicks, elbows, knees, standing grappling, and head-butts to wear down and knock out their opponent. Thai training methods develop devastating power, speed and superb cardiovascular endurance as well as fighting spirit. Muay Thai training is also quite safe thanks to sophisticated pad training that evolved to keep fighters healthy between fights. Muay Thai has also proven very effective outside the ring and has been embraced enthusiastically by practitioners of a variety of self-defense, sporting, military and law enforcement activities.
Marcus Mayes is the head Muay Thai coach at Derby City. He has had the experience of training first hand in Thailand. Along with his training experience he has fought in Muay Thai matches and MMA. Marcus can whip yo uinto shape and make you a lethal fighter. Marcus runs his Muay Thai training sessions in a traditional way similar to the way he trains in Thailand, which means a lot of reps and a lot of drills.
