Each individual has different training goals, so your training schedule will be dependent on your personal goals. Someone looking to get in shape may train once or twice a week whereas a person who is looking to compete may train 3-4 times a week.
A majority of members at Derby City are training just to have fun and to get in shape. When you become a member upon your request you are given a FREE diet plan and a training schedule based upon your availability. We also do a weight assessment and a evaluation of your goals and will build a program based on your personal needs.
No, 90% of the people who start at Derby City are completely out of shape and have never trained before. The instructors are used to building from the ground up and will help you achieve your goals.
Every month we have new members sign up and as a result the classes are geared toward total beginners and the coaches instruct beginners on a regular basis.
Our MMA program is built around our four core disciplines, (Boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling and Muay Thai). In order to compete you must have a fundamental understanding of these disciplines and must adhere.
1 month of training is $120. A 12 month agreement is $89. A 24 month agreement is only $69 a month.

Yes. We teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to children Monday through Thursday from 6 to 6:45. The age group is 7-12 years of age. When a child is 13+ they are eligible for the adult classes.
No. We have people training from age seven to their late sixties.
Yes. Upon your request someone will help you with “what to do’s and not to do’s” of nutrition.
T-Shirt and basketball shorts are appropriate or whatever you’re comfortable working out it. Also drink lots of water that day and bring water and/or Gatorade that day to stay hydrated.
Yes. Derby City has a very active MMA, Boxing and Jiu Jitsu team.
Yes. As long as you are a member of Derby City you can purchase private one on one or group classes from an instructor.
When you first start training you are not required to buy any gear for the first 30 days. After that you will need to buy any gear for any subsequent classes that you are involved in.
Upon arrival you will be showed around the gym and asked if you have any questions regarding classes. After that you will be introduced to the coaches. Then you will participate in a group class. All classes last an hour and have elements of warm ups, technique training, and conditioning.
