To introduce the sport of boxing and encourage correct technique and steady progression, this guide will act as reference material to facilitate your venture into this great sport. This will serve as a rudimentery syllabus of sorts for the most basic and inherently crucial foundational technique as well as giving the student a framework by which to ask questions and mark his/her progress. In order o advance in your training you must exemplify the following:
Foundational Stance and Footwork
- Basic Stance
- Footwork and Mobility in every direction
- Basic Pivot
The beginner boxer needs a foundation by which to build his/her skills. This is the basic boxing stance. An understanding and ability to demonstrate a proper stance is a must in order to begin boxing. Ideas discussed will be mobility, weight displacement, proper guard, the importance of balance, an minimizing the target area.
Basic Punches and Combinations
- The Jab
- The Right Cross
- The Left Hook
- The Right Uppercut
Students must be able to perform these basic punches with proper technique and correct footwork in every direction. Basic Combinations will be discussed at length and the student must be able to perform these basic punches in combination as well as understand the numbering system applied to these techniques.
Basic Defensive Maneuvers
- The block
- The parry
- The slip
- The Weave
An understanding and application of these basic defensive maneuvers will be achieved by the student in order to facilitate a good defensive repertoire and grasp of necessary principles.

180 in. Mexican Style Handwraps/Mouthpiece/Boxing Headgear
